Lisa Alford Obituary

Lisa Dawn Alford was born on December 27, 1960, in Mount Clemens, MI, to Donald and Arlene (Ron) Miller.  On Wednesday morning, September 12, 2018, Lisa succumbed to her lifelong illness of depression.

She grew up in Mt. Clemens where she attended and graduated high school.  Lisa married Steve Alford at the Sandusky Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in MI on August 22, 2004.  They lived in Baudette MN thereafter.  They traveled the US in style for a few years in their small RV until failing health prevented it.  Their favorite destinations included California and Michigan where they both had family.

Lisa worked most of her life in MI as a factory worker or as a caregiver.  Coming to Baudette she had worked at McDonald's and also for ODC.

Lisa dedicated her life as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on 11/10/01. Lisa had a love for people.  She was a faithful sister to the end.  When her health let her she enjoyed sharing her faith and hope in what the Bible promises for the near future. Isaiah 33:24 “NO ONE WILL BE SICK.”

She enjoyed helping people.  She was known for her giving spirit and great sense of humor.  She loved giving trinkets for her friends (especially their kids or grandkids).  She also loved going swimming.  One of her favorite stories happened when Misty was young and they went swimming in a nearby lake.  Lisa tried to help Misty do a back flip and in the process Misty accidentally kicked out her mom’s teeth.  Panic ensued until the teeth where found unharmed but a bit more sandy.

She could often be spotted in town shopping or grabbing a bite to eat with her friends and family.  On nice days she enjoyed taking her dog Minnie for walks around the neighborhood.

She absolutely loved doing crafts, everything from jewelry making to rock polishing but her favorite was wood burning.  Lisa would love telling the story of her great grandmother, Jane Quick and her two daughters who survived the sinking of the Titanic.  Some would ask “Did they survive?” to which Lisa would often reply with a look of disbelief, “I wouldn't be here if they hadn't.”  Lisa was given the opportunity to tell her story to the community on the 100th anniversary of the sinking in 2012 via the local newspaper.  She never missed the chance at showing off her collection of titanic memorabilia that she would often collect at different exhibits she visited throughout the years.

Lisa is survived by her husband, Steven Alford of Baudette; daughter, Misty Woodruff; step children, Becky Alford, Keith Alford and Donna Alford; father, Donald Miller; and her brothers, Donald Miller, Steven Miller, Richard Miller, Robert Miller and Jeffry Miller and their families, and  Ronald Alford.

She was proceeded in death by her mother Arlene (Ron) Miller; grandparents William and Virginia (Quick) Nantias; step grandson, Jordan Alford. Clyde James Alford.

Memorial Services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses of Baudette, MN on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 6:00.
