Kenny Vongsaly

Funeral services for Kenny Vongsaly of Warroad, MN will be held on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau. Visitation is one hour prior at Helgeson's.

Kenny Vongsaly, 74, of Warroad, Minnesota passed away in Grand Forks, North Dakota on October 11, 2019 at 9:47am from complications related to colon cancer.

Kenny (Soukanh) was born on October 10, 1945 in the village of Ban Tuat, Laos to Kai and Somsee Vongsaly.  He had 4 brothers and 5 sisters.  He preceded in death with his parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

He is survived by his wife Phetsamay, daughter Daovone and sons Vanh, Nekone, Phouty, Don, Peter, James, Mark, John, their spouses, 30 grandkids, his older sister Thongkhanh, older sister Yhean, younger brother Khean and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kenny was a talented musician who enjoyed singing, playing the keyboard and any musical instrument he could get his hands on.  He was an outdoorsman that loved to fish and hunt.  In his spare time he enjoyed being involved in the Lao community and spending time volunteering with the temple and community functions.  He also had a love for taking pictures and capturing the best of times with his loved ones especially his 30 grandkids. 

The Vongsaly family would like to thank everyone for their love and support through this tough time.  The food, flowers, time, accommodations that the Warroad community has given our family is beyond generous and we are extremely grateful.
