Karin June Johnston passed away peacefully on July 26, 2019 surrounded by her family and under the care of Sanford Health and Hospice in Bemidji, MN.
Karin was born on August 7, 1943 in Crookston, MN to Adeline (Hoeper) and Arthur Erickson. She grew up in Karlstad, MN, and in high school her family moved to Warroad where she met David Johnston.
She married David on June 9, 1962 in Warroad, MN. She helped in the family mink ranch business, worked at Toby’s Town & Country and Marvin Windows until retirement. She loved camping, sewing (made many outfits for her family), traveling, country and 50’s music, cruising, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the ND American Legion Auxiliary, ND VFW Auxiliary Gold Circle Member, and active in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Warroad.
She is survived by sons, Brad of Warroad, Mike (Sue) of Bemidji and David Jr. (Michelle) of Warroad; grandchildren, Vicki (Ben), Alex (Morgan), Cassie (Jake), Ciera (Ryan), Krista, Zachary, and Jerrica; great-grandchildren, Courtney, Camryn, and Clifford; sister, Barbara (Don) and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Sr.; son, Jerome; parents; and sister, Arlet.
A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 3:00 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Warroad, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior, with a reading of the Rosary at 2:00 PM. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery. A special thanks to the extraordinary care givers at Sanford Health and Hospice of Bemidji. Please send donations to your local American Cancer Society.
