Jennifer L. Shepard

A Funeral Service for Jennifer L. Shepard of Warroad, MN will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Bethesda Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 26, 2019 from 5-7 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN, with a service at 7PM. Interment will be held at Bethesda Cemetery.

Jennifer Louanne Shepard was born on January 23, 1963 in Roseau, MN, to Kenneth and Joann (Tapa) Brateng. Jennifer passed away on July 19, 2019 at LifeCare Medical Center in Roseau, MN at the age of 56 years old. She was a loving and supportive mother, grandmother, daughter and sister.

Growing up Jennifer lived on the family farm near Gatzke, MN and attended school in Roseau and Grygla, MN. She met and then married Harry Shepard in 1980, but they later divorced. In 1986 she moved to Warroad, MN where she continued to raise her children. She later started working at Marvin Windows where she remained until she fell ill with cancer in early 2018.

Jennifer enjoyed reading in her spare time and would often read and sing to her children when they were young. She liked cooking family recipes learned from her mother and grandmothers. She frequently hosted family game nights after Sunday meals. Jennifer also helped with wedding preparations for many family members. She enjoyed her work at Marvin’s for over 20 years and talked about the fun she had with her coworkers.

Jennifer is survived by her 4 children, Elizabeth (Mitchel) Ehlers, Harry Shepard III (significant other, Paula), Liza Shepard, Garth Shepard; 3 grandsons, Denton, Hayden and Evyn Falcon (their mother, Jennifer Falcon); her father, Kenneth Brateng (significant other, Joyce); sisters, Joanneth (Harry) Hamilton, Kamella (Stuart) Hamilton, Kathleen (Randy) Stavenes, Jodelle (Troy) Champlin; brothers, Jameson (Tami) Brateng, Kristopher Brateng; 28 nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.

Jennifer is preceded in death by her mother, Joann Brateng; grandparents, Myra Brateng, Henry Brateng, Wilruth Tapa and John Tapa; uncle, Robert Tapa; aunt, Mava Karlstad and almost sister-in-law, Wendy Sandsmark.

She will live forever in all our hearts and memories.
