Funeral services for Jennie Nelson of Roseau, MN will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at the Free Lutheran Church of Roseau. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church; with interment at the Norland Cemetery.
Jennie A. Nelson passed away peacefully with her family by her side on October 25, 2019 at the LifeCare Roseau Manor at the age of 100.
Jennie was born on December 18, 1918 in Salol, MN (Norland Township) to August Lindgren and Olga (Danielson) Olafson. She grew up and worked on the family farm in the rural Roseau County and was married to Leo Kimble in 1937. They had six children. After his death in 1948, she later married Gunnar Nelson in 1985. She worked as a waitress and the kitchen manager at the Warroad Hospital.
Jennie enjoyed quilting, picking blueberries and loved making cookies and donuts. Her church and her faith were very important to her. She was involved as a 4-H leader, a Sunday school teacher and at the 4-Seasons Center as the cookie maker.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley (Len) Schwartz of Sun City West, AZ; son, Norman (Linda) Kimble of International Falls, MN; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Leo Kimble and Gunnar Nelson; children, Marvin, Robert, Warren and Joyce Anderson; and several other relatives.
