Inez F. Leverington

Funeral services for Inez Leverington of Roseau will be held on Saturday, September 10th at 3 PM at First United Lutheran Church in Roseau.  Visitation will be on Friday evening from 5-7 PM with a 7:00 prayer service AT THE CHURCH.  Interment will be at the Spruce Cemetery in Roseau.

Inez Francina Leverington passed away on September 6, 2016 at the age of 92 at her home in Roseau, 14 days shy of her 93rd birthday.  Inez was born September 22, 1923 to William and Merle Montgomery on a small farm in Faulkton, S.D.  The family later moved to the Pine River, MN area.  She graduated from Pine River High School in 1941, and then attended Normal Teachers Training in Brainerd, MN.

Inez met Elwin (Bud) Leverington and they taught country school together.  While Bud was gone for WWII, Inez worked at an ammunition factory and at Hormel making Spam for the troops.  Inez and Bud were married on September 1, 1946 two months after Bud came home from the war.  Bud and Inez lived in several northern Minnesota communities before moving to Roseau.  Inez worked at school in the kitchen and as a paraprofessional.  She also babysat for several neighborhood families.  Her special calling was as a wife, mother, and home maker.  She enjoyed sewing quilts and knitting afghans.  Mom fried a lot of fish in her lifetime and she caught plenty too.

Inez is survived by her children, Ronald (Jean) Leverington of Warren, MN; William (Lynette) Leverington of Seattle, WA; Alana (Ken) Kuznia of Argyle, MN; Avis (Ron) Grothem of Horace, ND; and Scott (Ann) Leverington of Roseau, MN.  She is also survived by her sister Joyce Bates of Austin, MN, her sister in law Rena Leverington of Pine River, MN, and many nieces and nephews.

She has 15 grandchildren, Mark, Shari, Heidi, Paul, Nick, Ben, Kelly, Adam, Melissa, Tyler, Ryan, Jake, Erin, Eric, and Kari.  She also has 25 great-grandchildren; Jessica, Luke, Brady, Michael, Eric, Olivia, Isaac, Kayden, Truman, Tanner, Sophia, Dylan, Gabriel, Gunnar, Kendall, Chloe, Annika, Inara, Hunter, Lilly, Leighton, Austin, Madison, Ryder, and Hudson.

Inez was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Elwin, her parents, and many in-laws.
