Esther R. Nystrom

Memorial services for Esther Ruth Nystrom of Roseau will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 7:00 PM.  A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Helgeson's; with interment at Spruce Cemetery.

Esther R. Nystrom was born on 20 July 1944 to Inga (Brenhaug) and Arvid Nystrom in Roseau, MN. She was raised on the Nystrom Farm and attended school in Roseau where she lettered in band playing the French Horn and Basketball. Growing up she enjoyed picking berries, rides on the tractor with her dad, and many family get togethers. After leaving Roseau she moved to the Rogue Valley in Southern Oregon where she began her career in the service and manufacturing industries. A kind heart, incredible work ethic and her ability to make people smile led to the many achievements in her life. High spirited and always full of adventure she traveled and worked throughout the country from Minnesota to Oregon, California, Washington, Hawaii, Idaho, Massachusetts, Kentucky, West Virginia, Utah and returning to Roseau where she retired from Polaris Industries. Esther was also a 20 year member of the Eagles Auxiliary Roseau Chapter.

She enjoyed knitting, crochet, artwork, and drawing, she was quite crafty. She was a very talented and artistic woman. She loved walks along the beach shores collecting driftwood shells and sand dollars. She rode a motorcycle to Baja Mexico, rafted the Class V white water rapids in Hells Canyon and was full of life and adventure.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Arvid Nystrom and Inga Nystrom; children, Troy Goodboe of Roseau, MN, Robbie Goodboe of Roseau, MN; brothers, Orville Nystrom of Virginia, MN, Frank Nystrom of Roseau, MN.

Esther is survived by her children, Darcy Goodboe of Parkersburg, WV, Richard Tate (Cami) Goodboe of Caldwell, ID; step-son, Daniel Berkey of Superior, WY; honorary daughter, Rikkelle (Goodboe) Taylor of Meridian, ID; grandchildren, Brian Keown, Amanda (Keown) Tichenor, John Goodboe, Cynthia (Goodboe) Tenney; great grandchildren, Jack Tichenor, Levi Tichenor, Greyson Tichenor, Brett Tichenor, Colby Pearson, Keegan Burke, Kingsley Tenney; sister, Eldri Vatnsdal of Roseau, MN; sisters-in-law, Lois Nystrom of Roseau, MN and Elaine Nystrom of Virginia, MN; family friend, Stewart Paul of Badger, MN.
