Eric E. Bendickson

Funeral services for Eric Bendickson of Warroad, MN will be on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 10 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Warroad, MN.   Visitation will be on Friday from 5-7 PM with a 7:00 prayer service/sharing at Helgeson Funeral Home in Warroad.

Eric Eugene Bendickson was born in Roseau, MN on August 21, 1982, to Vern and Joan (Vatnsdal) Bendickson. Eric grew up in Warroad. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church and confirmed at Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church. He attended elementary and high school in Warroad, graduating in 2001.

Eric had a wide variety of skills as shown through the many different jobs he held, including working for the DNR through a school program; he was a helitack, fighting fires for the DNR; he worked in Montana, Colorado and Texas searching for space shuttle parts; he farmed with his brother, Bill; he harvested beets in North Dakota; was a fishing guide for Arnesen’s; he moved buildings; he worked at Beito Plumbing and Heating, for a local turkey farmer, Wilmer Honey Farms, and did excavating work. Eric was currently working with Northern Toboggan building toboggans.

Eric had natural mechanical and welding abilities. He worked on and fixed many four wheelers, snowmobiles, and automobiles.  Eric loved the outdoors and enjoyed both hunting and fishing. Every year he looked forward to antique hunting at the Roosevelt Flea Market and bringing his nephew and nieces to the Roseau County Fair.  Eric especially loved spending time with his nephew and nieces.  It was not uncommon to see him jumping on a trampoline, giving four wheeler or golf cart rides, pulling sleds, or going down a slip and slide with them.  He was a kid at heart and wasn’t afraid of “bending” the rules if it meant having more fun!

Eric touched the lives of all those who knew him.  He had a big heart and contagious smile that will be greatly missed by many.

Eric is survived by his mother, Joan (Ken) Olson of Warroad; brother Bill (Amanda) Bendickson of Warroad and their children, Ivan, Aubrey and Raylyn; sister Katie (Kent) Peterson of Warroad; grandparents Ardy and Ray Vatnsdal of Roseau; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents Ivan and Delores Bendickson; father Vern Bendickson; aunt Jackie Bendickson;  uncle Rocky Vatnsdal; cousin Chad Olson.
