A memorial service for Emma K. Shilley will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 11:00AM at the First Baptist Church in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Emma Katherine Shilley passed away on July 25, 2017 at Lifecare Roseau Manor after a short battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving children and her Lifecare Manor family.
Emma was born in Stark, Wisconsin on August 24, 1929 to Clarence Braun and Violet (Thomas) Braun. She married Kenneth Petersen on April 19, 1947 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. They lived in the Mineral, Washington area and had five children: Patricia, Mary, Fred, Irene and Joe. They divorced after many years, and in 1968 she married Michael Shilley. They later divorced as well and Emma started traveling and living near family and friends in different states. During this time Emma made a personal commitment to the Lord.
Emma loved fishing, playing cards (especially with her grandkids), gardening, and traveling.
She is survived by her children: Patricia Thomas of Roseau, MN; Mary Brison of Rutledge, TN; Fred Petersen (Eva Spear) of Newport, NC; Irene (Robert) White of Dobson, NC; and Joe (Aprill) Petersen of Naches, WA; ten grandchildren, Stephanie Stoll, Michael Frank, Robert Frank, Kevin Frank, Frederick Petersen, Michael Petersen, Christine Parker, Angela Aarons, Carla Petersen, and Jason Petersen; twenty great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Melva Braun and one special niece Charlotte (Braun).
She was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers Arnold and Cecil Braun, son-in-law Roger Thomas, great-grandson Alexander Aarons, and nephew Matthew Braun.
