Eleanor K. Duick

Private family graveside services at Elm Park Cemetery in Baudette will be held at a later date for Eleanor K. Duick of Baudette, MN.  She passed away peacefully on June 9, 2017 at the Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood, MN at the age of 98.

Eleanor was born September 25, 1918 to Frank and Anna Hipp on the family farm in New Brighton, MN.  She enjoyed sharing memories of her large family, relatives and farm life.  In 1952, she married Victor Dan Duick and they began their family in Circle Pines, MN.  They moved to the Baudette, MN area in 1961 where they enjoyed owning and operating Cyrus Resort on Lake of the Woods for many years.  After raising their family, retiring and becoming a widow, Eleanor remained very actively involved with the Senior Center and delivered Meals on Wheels.  She especially enjoyed making doughnuts and serving them at the Center.  In 1990 Ellie moved to Council Bluffs, IA to live near her daughter and family. She loved being able to spend time and help with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Ellie enjoyed sewing, puzzles, playing cards, watching baseball, gardening and fishing throughout her life. She had a talent for making beautiful crocheted and knitted articles.  Her helping hands and quick wit will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

Ellie is survived by her daughters, Ginny (Mike) Cohrs of Alexandria, MN  and Sue (Chris) Harter of Crescent, IA; sons, Jack Duick of Baudette, MN and Louie Duick of Maple Lake, MN; grandchildren, Dan (Missy) Cohrs, Micala (Nick) Danielson, Chelsea (Jeff) McAlexander, Joe (Ashlee) Harter, John (Aaliyah) Harter, Amber Arendt, Jake Duick, Ben (Bethany) Duick, Beau (Sara) Duick, and Tamara (Tom) Duick-Hineline; great-grandchildren, Dexter Cohrs, Ellie, Noah, Mason, Olivia and Luke Danielson, Jemma, Finn and Newton McAlexander, Sophia and Scarlet Harter, Mayson Harter, Odin and, Lena Arendt, Ettalyn Duick, Hailey Duick, Weston Hineline; cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Rose and Gertrude, brothers, Carl, Benjamin, Joseph, Peter, Richard, Edward and Leonard.
