Edith "Edy" Lindstrom

Edy Lindstrom, 95, passed away on January 20, 2018, at the Lakewood Care Center, Baudette, MN.  A lifelong resident of Lake of the Woods County, she was born May 26, 1922, to the late Theodore (Ted) and Anna Peterson in Pitt, MN.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Stan Cornelius and Erland Lindstrom, two sisters, one brother, her son, Neil Cornelius and her daughter-in-law, Donna Cornelius.

She and her husband, Stan Cornelius, owned and operated Stan’s Hardware for 23 years.  After selling the business, she retired to be a full time volunteer with the Hospital Auxiliary, Lake of the Woods Food Shelf, First Congregational Church, the V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Brinks Senior Center.  In her spare time, she also loved gardening, tending her flower beds, and working on her many crafts.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Noel Cornelius of Post Falls, ID; daughter, Alana (Ken) Holloway of Clearwater, FL; stepdaughters, Deloris Kimbell of Mahtomedi, MN and Arlene Johnson of Hopkins, MN.  Grandchildren – Anna (Joe) Cornelius-Huffman of Seattle, WA; Ethan Cornelius of Poulsbo, WA; Isaac (Gail) Cornelius of Mica, WA; Mario (Nichole) Sabatine of DeBary, FL; and Adam (Lisa) Sabatine of St. Paul, MN.  Step grandchildren – Joan (Danny) Robideau, Sharon (Jim) Murphy, Jim (Trudy) Elmer, Debbie (Gary) Guerin, Greg Johnson, Wayne (Ann) Johnson, Susan Johnson, and Andrew (Barb) Johnson.  Great grandchildren – Anthony Sabatine and Adrianna Sabatine of St. Paul, MN; Landon Sabatine, Annika Sabatine, and Amara Sabatine of DeBary, FL; Zion Cornelius and Avaiya Cornelius of Mica, WA and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 27, at First Congregational Church, Baudette, MN.  The family will receive friends following the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to First Congregational Church.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Lakewood Care Center for the wonderful care that she received while she lived there.  They cared for her like family and she lovingly referred to her room as her “home”.

A private burial service will be held at Elm Park Cemetery, Baudette, MN at a later date.
