Daryl C. Eklund

Funeral services for Daryl C. Eklund of rural Roseau, MN will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 10:30 AM at the Free Lutheran Church of Roseau.  A visitation will be one hour prior with interment at the Beaver Township Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Daryl went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, January 1st, 2020 at the age of 66.  Daryl Clarence Eklund was born on February 17, 1953 to Clarence & Tommyetta (Rouse) Eklund in Roseau, MN. He grew up on his family's farm in Falun Township. He attended grade school at the Malung School and graduated from Roseau High in 1971. Daryl spent years farming with his father. He also worked at Marvin Windows, Northern Glass Construction, and as an independent contractor.

Throughout his life he enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, four wheeling, and working outdoors. He enjoyed planting his garden, berry picking, feeding the deer, canning, and even experimented with baking and making jellies. You would often find him venturing out for dumpling day at Nelson’s. He was a great cook and could make a gourmet meal out of anything. He had a great sense of humor and a big heart.  Daryl especially loved spending time with his family and friends, but what he loved the most was the Lord.  Towards the end of his life, Daryl enjoyed attending his old home church which is now Immanuel Baptist as well as the fellowship at the Free Lutheran Church of Roseau.

Daryl is survived by his children; Carmen (Rob) Burda; Danell Eklund, Justin (Becky) Eklund, Christopher (Jenelle) Eklund, Andrea (Andrew) Eklund, and Kari (Joel) Schramm. Grandchildren: Arjun, Aaron, and Ajey Miriyala, Taylor Sanders, Noah and Bodi Meyeraan, Etta Eklund, Eliza and Josephine Schramm, and Adalynn and Jacob Eklund. Siblings: Deniece (Bill) Gibbs, Delane (Russell) Walker, Delores (Troy) Olson; Sister-in-law Cookie Eklund; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Daryl is preceded in death by his brother and best friend Donny Eklund; granddaughter Scarlett and Rose Eklund; and his parents, Clarence and Tommyetta Eklund.
