Clifford Skime

November 15, 1915 ~ October 17, 2016 (age 100) 100 Years Old

A Funeral Service for Clifford Skime of Roseau, MN will be held on Monday, October 24, 2016 at 2:00PM at Messiah Lutheran Church in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 24, 2016 one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held at Spruce Cemetery in Roseau, MN.

Clifford passed away on Monday, October 17, 2016 at LifeCare Roseau Manor at the age of 100.

Clifford Skime, son of Andrew and Emma Skime was born on November 15, 1915 in Skime, MN. He was baptized in the Lutheran Church and attended Sunday school and Bible school there. He attended grade school in Skime. He also attended Dairy school in St. Paul, MN. He worked on his dad’s farm and had many other jobs. In 1937 he started working at the Farmers Co-op Creamery in Wannaska, MN as a creamery assistant.  Later he worked at the Land O’ Lakes Creamery in Plummer. He then took a job as manager of the Lake Bronson Co-op Creamery. He then came back to the Wannaska Creamery as the Manager and was there for ten years. In 1952 he moved to Roseau and took the position of Manager of the Farmers Co-op Creamery and Land O’ Lakes Plant until his retirement in 1980. Clifford married Ethel Nordvall on June 9, 1940. They had four children; Arden, Angela, Larry and David.

Clifford was an active member of many organizations; PTA, Historical Society, 4 Seasons, Son’s of Norway, Member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Pioneer Farm, The Lion’s Club and was Treasure of the Roseau Area Hospital Board from its onset in 1953 until 1990. He was on the Board of Eventide and also Sunburst. He belonged to several dairy organizations, and he won the State Butter Making Championship, plus many awards for his wonderful butter.

He loved to hunt and fish, and loved to help people.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Ethel; son, Arden; mother; father and stepmother; brothers, Albin, Harold (Helena); sisters, Francis (Gilmer) Anderson, Alice (Lloyd) Vagle. He is survived by his children, Angela (Bill) Morrow of Minneapolis, MN, Larry (Judy) of Oxnard, CA and David (Kay) of Roseau, MN; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

In Lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Roseau Historical Society or the Roseau Lion’s Club.
