Byron Lee Johnson

Memorial services for Byron Lee Johnson of International Falls, MN, and currently residing in Warroad, MN, will be held on Sunday, October 21st at 11 AM at the Warroad Senior Living Center Chapel in Warroad, MN.  Visitation will be one hour prior with interment at the Falun Cemetery in rural Roseau, MN.  In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be given to Byron's favorite Christian charities.

Byron was born to Margaret and Guy Johnson on November 18, 1929 in St. Croix, Wisconsin.    He graduated from Taylor Falls and moved to Badger, MN in 1948.  Byron served in the Army for 2 years.  He met his future bride, Lyla (Larson) in Greenbush, MN and they married June 30, 1951.  They lived in International Falls where Byron was employed for Boise Cascade for 40 years, retiring in 1991. Byron was a lifelong servant and member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Byron & Lyla were both instructed in the Lutheran faith and baptized together Feb. 20, 1952.  They had 4 children: Judy Lund (Joe), Jeffrey (Leigh), Daniel and David (Jill).  He is preceded in death by his sister Laurie Lou and his beautiful wife Lyla of 67 years. Byron & Lyla have 7 Grandchildren: Jennifer (Jeremiah) Voll, Kari (Matt) Rachuy, Jason (Adria) Lund, Peter (Stephanie) Johnson, Allison (Christopher) Pfleghaar, Erin (Anthony) Gancer, Adam (Kathryn) Johnson.   16 Great Grandchildren: Kayla Voll, Katie Voll, Amy Voll, Justin King, Ellie King, William Gancer, Emmeline Gancer, Timothy Gancer, Jonathon Gancer, Zoey Johnson, Lillian Johnson, Jaycie Lund, Jordyn Lund, William Lund, Wyatt Lund, Lucas Johnson. 1 Great-Great grandchild: Kyler Voll.  Brothers: Guy (Peggy) Johnson and Eric (Patricia) Johnson.  Byron was called home to glory in the early morning hours of October 11, 2018 at the age of 88.
