Blanche L (Markstrom) Trangsrud

Funeral services for Blanche Trangsrud of Badger will be held on Monday, October 1st, at 11:00 AM at Concordia Lutheran Church in Ross. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be at the Concordia Lutheran Cemetery.  

Blanche Markstrom was born in Jadis Township, Roseau, Minnesota on February 13, 1920, to Herman and Amelia Markstrom.  She passed away at Lifecare Manor on September 27, 2018.

After graduating from Roseau High School, she enjoyed waitressing, working in the defense plant making ammunition during WW2, and operating a cafe in Roseau with her sister Ruby.

In 1946 she was united in marriage to Clifford Trangsrud.  They raised 4 children on a dairy farm in Duxby.  She was active in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Ladies Aid and also taught Sunday School.  When this church merged with the Concordia Lutheran Church of Ross, she continued to be involved in the activities of the church.  She often reminisced about the quilting crew and the fun they had on quilting days.  She was always on deck to help her kids as they prepared to exhibit 4-H projects at the county fair. 

She will be remembered for her good sense of humor and her quick wit.  Visits with her were always filled with laughter.

Deer hunting season was a special time as friends and family gathered at the farm.  For many years she enjoyed fixing lunches, serving meals, and listening to all the stories about the hunt.

Blanche was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford, and grandson Todd Svoboda.  Also preceding her in death were her parents and all of her 11 siblings; brothers Arthur, Edwin, Melvin, Carl, Milford, Ardell, and sisters Hulda (Toni), Amanda, Myrtle, Mildred, and Ruby.

She is survived by her children: Janice (Brach) Svoboda, David (Lynette) Trangsrud, Wayne Trangsrud, and Brian (Karen) Trangsrud, grandchildren: Joni (John) Burkel, Jacob Trangsrud, Grant Trangsrud: seven great-grandchildren, Vanessa (Kilen) Flanagan, Andrea (A.J.) Hogenson, Alex, Jack, and Emily  Burkel, Blake and Hunter Trangsrud: one great-great grandchild, Rhett Flanagan.
