Mark Earl Robinson was born on October 9, 1953 to Earl and Marjorie (Lofstedt) Robinson in Roseau, MN. Throughout his childhood Mark was committed to their family farm helping with whatever needed to be done. This continued throughout his life, as he was always willing to lend a helping hand. Mark graduated from Roseau High School in 1972. He met the love of his life in 1979 and Mark and Elizabeth (Beth) Hamerl were united in marriage on October 4, 1980. They were truly best friends and enjoyed everything they did together, especially raising their two daughters, Heather and Holly.
Mark was passionate about farming and made it a lifetime commitment. His other jobs included OK Machine as a truck driver and mechanic, South 89, Miracle Express and Byfuglien Trucking. In 2000 Sport Tops Plus was purchased. Mark took great pride in every boat top he sewed. He also enjoyed the challenge of other projects, one of his most memorable times was sewing costumes for Holly and his “extra daughters.” Mark started as a substitute bus driver in 2005, in 2013 he took a full-time bus route for the Roseau School. This was a perfect job to keep him busy through the winter and still allow him time to run Sport Tops and the farm. Little did he know, this would become much more than a job. He was committed to building a relationship with each and every student that entered his bus. Though Mark enjoyed driving all of the Roseau Ram sports teams, girls' hockey quickly became his favorite, especially the Christmas trip to the cities when Beth would join him.
Most of all, Mark was committed to his family and friends. His girls meant the world to him and he would do anything for them. He was blessed with six grandchildren, who adored their Grandpa/Papa Mark. He took pride in sharing his love for the outdoors with his grandkids, as well as any family or friend who was willing to join! The one thing you needed to know if you chose to join his adventures was that Mark always had time for “just one more”. Whether it was one more snowmobile to ride, deer to hunt, drink to be had, and most certainly one more drift to make or fish to catch, you could assure he was smiling the whole time. Mark and Beth recently purchased their dream lot on the Rainy River because they had, “just one more” plan to continue their memories together as a family.
Mark died unexpectedly on June 4, 2021 as he and his faithful dog Luna were headed to the river. Although Mark’s time here on Earth was not nearly long enough. Our lives are richer and blessed because he shared his love and friendship with all.
Mark is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; daughters, Heather (Sam) Hamilton of New Prague MN, Holly (John) Kowalski of Stephen, MN; grandchildren, Eliora, Moses and Magdalyn Hamilton, Finn, Leo and Cam Kowalski, his beloved dog Luna, siblings, Dean (Sally) Robinson, Dick (Connie) Robinson, Avis (Lawrence) Wright, Ray (Sherri) Robinson, K’Lynn Thomspon, Scott (Becky) Robinson and Cheryl (Larry) Eslick. Sisters’-in-law, Faye Hamerl, Jeri (Glenn) Horner, Nola (Larry) Kukowski, and Pat Magness. Along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Marjorie Robinson, Father and mother In-law Wendell and Fern Hamerl, Brothers-in-law Gary Pigeon and Gregg Thompson and nephew Aaron Robinson.
