William "Bill" Cain Obituary

Bill Cain of Warroad passed away peacefully on January 25, 2024 at his daughter’s home in Warroad.

William “Bill” Cain was born on April 5, 1936, in El Paso, TX, to John and Thelma (Kendall) Cain.  He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in El Paso in 1954 and attended Texas Western College for 1 year.

Bill served in the United States Army. He trained and showed Hereford bulls at Baker Bros. Farms in Ada, MN. He also farmed and raised cattle and bulls in Warroad and held several jobs, including driving a school bus and working at Marvin Windows and Cenex.  Bill and Celeste (Nelson) were married in Ada, MN in 1962.

Bill did anything he could to help others, especially yard work and gardening.  He enjoyed being outside with nature, hunting, fishing, cuddling with his dachshunds, and spending time at the lake cabin.

Bill was named Outstanding Sr. Volunteer in Roseau County in 2009. He was a Warroad and Roseau Masonic Lodge member, receiving the Masonic Hiram Award. He belonged to the Kem Shrine and was very active with their Sno Nobles.  Bill was a member of the Union Congregational Church.

He is survived by his children Heidi (Scott) Niemann and Scott Cain of Warroad, grandchildren Dylan, Cammi, and Keegan, sister Katherine (Kitty) Phelps, El Paso, 7 nephews, and 3 nieces.

Bill was preceded in death are his wife Celeste, parents, sister Faye Jamison, Borup, MN, and nephews Aaron Phelps and Corbin Phelps of El Paso.

 

A Memorial Service for William "Bill" and Celeste Cain will take place on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church in Warroad at 11:00 am, with a visitation an hour prior. The night before, there will also be a visitation at Helgeson Funeral Home in Warroad from 5:00 - 7:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Warroad.
