Memorial services for Zona Paine of Badger, MN will be held on Thursday, April 27th at 4 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau. Interment will be at the Moose River Cemetery at a later date.
Zona Audrey Karrel Paine of Badger, MN passed away on April 21, 2017 at the Hillcrest Senior Living in Red Lake Falls, MN at the age of 77.
Zona was born on June 4, 1939 in Middle River, MN to Evelyn (Paetznick) and Herman Severts. She attended a country school near Thief Lake and later graduated from Middle River High School in 1957. She was married to Thomas Darst in 1957-1975 and she worked at a hospital in Minneapolis, MN in the nursery unit. In 1978, she moved to the Randeen Ridge area, and later to Badger, MN. She was married to Jay Paine in 1976-1990. Zona worked as a welder at Polaris Industries until her retirement.
Her hobbies included gardening, woodworking, painting and drawing… and she loved music.
She is survived by her children, Thomas Darst of Seattle, WA, Daniel (Laura) Darst of Zimmerman, MN, Teresa (Charles) Darst Newman of Shakopee, MN; and Sherri (Jan) Johnson of Wannaska, MN; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings, Alan (Sandy) Severts, Larry (Karen) Severts, Judy Hill and Diane Kenworthy; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Severts. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Scott and brother, Marshall.
