Thomas M. Parker

Thomas Myles Parker (Tom) died at his home in Roseau, MN, on Wednesday, August 3, 2017.

Thomas, the son of the late Harry Lee Parker, MD, and Florence Parker nee Lampert, was born on November 22, 1928, in Rochester, MN.

Thomas was raised in Dublin, Ireland and educated at Portora Royal School in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland, completing fourth form. Thomas joined the Merchant Marine in May of 1945 and later was admitted to the San Mateo Merchant Marine Academy, graduating in 1947. He attended the University of Minnesota and was of the medical school graduating class of 1954. Thomas completed a fellowship in pathology at the Mayo Clinic in 1957. He achieved his boards in clinical and anatomical pathology in 1964.

Thomas married the late Louise Verna Gram in 1952 and they raised six children together. Thomas served in the Navy from 1957 to 1959 and from 1967 to 1969, leaving at the rank of commander. He later served in the National Guard, retiring at the rank of colonel.

Thomas is survived by his children, Wendy Parker, Jonathan Parker, Kent Parker, Andrew Parker, Melissa Le (Trung), Adam Parker; grandchildren, Samuel Parker, Mitchell Le, Hannah Parker, Cassandra Le; nephews, John Durling and Anthony Durling, and cousins on several continents.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise, and his sister, Sheila Durling. At his request, there will be no services.
