Funeral services for Steve Butler of Roseau, MN will be held on Friday, July 10th at 2 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau.  Visitation will be on Thursday evening from 5-7 PM at Helgeson's.  Interment will be at the Malung Cemetery.

Steven Lynn Butler passed away on July 6, 2015 at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND at the age of 64.

 

Steve was born in Twin Falls, Idaho on October 12, 1950 to Hazel (Clawson) and Roy Butler.  He graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1969.  He attended the College of Southern Idaho.  He and Sue Wilcox were married in 1973 and had a daughter, Sarah.

 

He moved to Roseau, MN in 1978 to manage the Arnold’s Department Store.  After the store closing, Steve worked as a supervisor at Polaris Industries for12 years.  Most recently, he was the Director of Transportation for Far North Transit for Roseau and Lake of the Woods Counties, until his retirement in December 2014.

 

He and Cindy Sorenson were married in December of 1994.  They enjoyed camping and traveling and most recently spent the winter in Arizona.  It was a special time for them.

 

Steve enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, camping, traveling and visiting with friends.  Golf was his favorite past time activity and he spent every hour he could at the golf course.  He cherished following his daughter, Sarah’s career in golf.  He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and positive outlook on life.  He was extremely generous and always a joy to visit with.

 

He is survived by his wife, Cindy of Roseau; daughter, Sarah Butler of Norfolk, VA; stepchildren, Missy (Carl) Anderson of Strandquist, MN, Joshua (Becky) Sorenson of Roseau; and Adam (Krystle) Sorenson of Greenbush, MN; 8 grandchildren, Luke, Lyndsey, Logan, Jasmine, Gabe, Ben, Adalynn, and Aiden; brothers, Roy (Lynn) Butler of Idaho, David Butler of Alabama and sister, Betty Hoshaw of Idaho.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Hazel.
