Ray G. Christianson

A Funeral Service for Ray G. Christianson will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 11:00AM at Resurrection Community Church in Karlstad, MN. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017 from 5-8PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN with a prayer service at 8PM. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held at Pauli Cemetery in Greenbush, MN.

Ray passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND at the age of 75.

Ray Garret Christianson was born in Ross Township of Roseau County, MN, on September 5, 1941, to Rudolph and Myrtle (Lee) Christianson. He attended Haug Country School and Greenbush High School, graduating in 1959. After high school Ray went to the University of Minnesota, St. Paul campus for two years. In 1969, Ray married Lillian Breiland. They were blessed with five children; Robby, Corena, Cindy, Danny, and Scott. He started dairy farming and milked cows for 30 years. In addition to farming, he worked at Intercept Industries in Roseau, MN, until his retirement.

Ray loved raising and showing his miniature horses. He served on several church boards and numerous ag-related boards. He was King Agissiz and Roseau County Farm Family of the Year. Some of his favorite pastimes were gardening, working in the green house, going on the St. Jude’s trail ride, and watching his grandchildren participate in sports. He enjoyed attending rodeos and spending time at the Roseau County Fair. He loved to talk and converse with friends and he had quite the sense of humor.

Ray is survived by his wife, Lillian; children, Robby (Kay) Christianson, Corena (Douglas) Green, Cindy (Tony) Rogness, Danny (Brooke) Christianson, Scott (Kristi) Christianson; sisters, Marilyn (Ted) Peterson, Eleanor (Coy) Brewer; brother, Donald (Sharon) Christianson; grandchildren, Cole Christianson, Caprice Christianson, Monica (Preston) Byre, Matthew Green, Michele Green, Michael Green, Joanna Rogness, Micah Rogness, Allison Rogness, Trevor (Brittany) Forst, Madison Warne, Stephen Christianson, Josiah Christianson, Caleb Christianson, Elijah Christianson, Abigail Christianson; great-grandchildren, Brielle Byre, Beckett Byre, Hunter Forst, Brooklyn Forst; aunts, Irene Lee, Rosanne Lee; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Caleb Brewer.
