Funeral services for Phyllis J. Fitzgerald of Roseau will be held on Thursday, October 27th at 2 PM at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Skime. A Visitation will be one hour prior to the service with Interment at Pinegrove Cemetery.
Phyllis J. Fitzgerald passed away peacefully on October 23, 2016 at the LifeCare Roseau Manor at the age of 83.
Phyllis was born on June 7, 1933 in rural Roseau, MN to Gerda (Edberg) and Louis Olson. She attended country school in Skime, MN. She worked as a maid in the Bozeman area of Drayton, ND, before marrying Robert “Paul” Fitzgerald in 1950, and they were married for 47 years.
After moving to Woodland, California in 1961 she worked as a nurse’s aide for several years then worked for Contadina Tomato Factory, they later moved back to Minnesota. She worked for a short time at 7 Clans Casino in Warroad.
Phyllis will be remembered as a fun-loving person, who was generous and kind. She was known as a “spit-fire.” She loved playing Bingo, listening to old time country music, doing crafts and going to the Casino with friends. Her passion was spending time with her grandchildren. Blessed be her memory.
She is survived by her children, Betty Jean (Wayne) Bivert, Robert Louis Fitzgerald and Ronald James Fitzgerald all of Woodland, CA and Barbie Fitzgerald of Roseau, MN; grandchildren, Alecia, Jillian, Shaun, Casey, Kylee, Magnus and Sara; 3 great-grandchildren; siblings, Marlys (Leland) Olson of Skime and Marlin (Lois) Olson of Skime; and sister-in-law, Mavis (Hubert) Olson. She was preceded in death by her parents; 8 brothers and 4 sisters.
