Mary Jayne Rinkenberger

April 17, 1957 ~ July 10, 2015 (age 58) 58 Years Old

A Memorial Service for Mary Jayne Rinkenberger of Warroad, MN will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 10:00AM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mary Jayne Rinkenberger, 58, of Warroad died Friday, July 10th at her home several miles North of town after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was born on April 17, 1957 in Thief River Falls, MN and was raised by Arthur Salpacka & Marion (Larson) Salpacka.

A graduate of the Roseau Class of 1975, Mary started her family life early and was a truly wonderful mother and devoted wife.  Whether it was cooking one of her many scrumptious dishes or picking the kids up from sports practice, she was always willing to devote her time & energy to her loved ones.  In her spare time, she enjoyed working on her flower garden, traveling (especially Hawaii), reading, shopping for random jewelry off the TV, and just enjoying herself outdoors on the family land (Longworth).

In her professional life, Mary worked for 37 years at the Citizen's State Bank of Roseau and retired as a Chief Compliance Officer.  In 2004, she earned her CRCM (Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager) Certification and was often required to travel to various US locations for her work.  The people she knew and places she visited during her time at the bank definitely comprise some of her best memories.

Mary was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic cancer in January of 2014 and was only given 6-12 months to live.  Thanks to the treatment from the Cancer Treatment Centers of America and the love, prayers and support from her friends and family, she was able to beat the odds.  She stayed with us for over 18 months and was amazingly brave & upbeat throughout the fight.  It takes an extraordinarily strong person to handle things like she did, but that's exactly what Mary was and she will never be forgotten.

She is survived by her husband Clarence Rinkenberger; three children, Rachel, Anthony & John Erickson; three step-children, Anthony, Sheena and Matt Rinkenberger; one grand-child, Reece Erickson; and one brother, Charles Salpacka.
