She married Raymond G. Anderson in East Grand Forks, Minnesota, on October 1, 1941. Raymond enlisted in the U.S. Army ten days after their marriage and served in the Aleutian Islands. Mary worked at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago, and she worked at the shipyards in Portland, Oregon during Raymond's military service.

They moved to California in 1964. During their four year stay, Mary was employed as a nursing assistant at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena. Upon their return to Minnesota, she worked for Polaris for many years until her retirement.

Mary was an avid gardener in her younger years and enjoyed tending a large vegetable garden, canning and freezing produce each harvest season. Her homemade bread and cinnamon rolls were mouth-watering. She also nurtured flowers bordering her home. She made beautiful quilts for her grandchildren which they will treasure. She liked to sing hymns and to accompany herself on the piano. In her later years, she enjoyed doing word search puzzles, putting together jigsaw puzzles, playing bingo, and listening to Christian musicians on radio and Trinity Broadcasting Network. Mary treasured reading her Bible and read it cover to cover many times over. She dearly loved her family and friends praying for them daily.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Carl) Brumund of Salem, Oregon, grandchildren Ben Brumund and Serena (Mike) Taylor of Salem, Oregon, and Heidi (Tim) Vacanti of Roseau, Minnesota. She is also survived by three great grand-daughters, Ava and Claire Taylor and Priscilla Vacanti. She is survived by sister-in-law Gerry Johnson, of lsanti, Minnesota.
