A Mass of Christian Burial for Marie A. Verbout of Grygla, MN will be held on Friday, January 9, 2015 at St. Clement Catholic Church in Grygla, MN at 11:00AM. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 4-7PM with a prayer at 7:00PM at St. Clement Catholic Church in Grygla. Interment will be held at St. Clement Catholic Cemetery in Grygla, MN.
Marie Ann (Hammer) Verbout was born on July 26, 1946 in Roseau, MN. She was the youngest of ten children to the late Bennie and Anna (Schires) Hammer. She was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith. She attended elementary and junior high school in Malung/Wannaska and high school in Roseau, MN.
Marie was united in marriage to Wayne Verbout on October 17, 1964 at the Falun church. The couple made their home in Grygla, MN. Together they raised 5 girls. Marie was a stay at home mom and housewife for many years. Later she decided to go out to work; she worked at Marvin Windows in Warroad for 4 years, Machinewell for 10 years in Grygla and Diamonds for 14 years in Grygla.
Marie’s most enjoyment in her life was spending time with her family, she would be ice fishing, camping, 4 wheeling, or just going to their houses to visit. Marie loved to entertain, she loved to cook, and she made sure everyone got plenty to eat. She also made sure her house was always clean. Marie’s biggest love was her husband, Wayne. She was so proud to have had 50 years with him. They loved to dance. Wayne and Marie loved to watch hockey on TV. Wayne was a Gopher fan while Marie was a Sioux fan.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents, Bennie and Anna Hammer; sisters, Naomi, Eileen and Bernice; brother, Donny.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne of Grygla, MN; daughters, Bonnie Newton of Thief River Falls, MN, Sandy (Larry) Nerhus of Goodridge, MN, Janie (Donny) Johnson of Roseau, MN, Sheila (Dean) Wiskow of Goodridge, MN, Sue Ann (Ricky) Sjulestad of Goodridge, MN; 15 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth Hammer of Pencer, MN, George Hammer of Fergus Falls, MN; sisters, Elizabeth Erickson of Roseau, MN, Anita Bue of Wannaska, MN, Evadell (Rich) Neseth of Osseo, MN.
Marie A. Verbout died Thursday, January 1, 2015 at LifeCare Medical Center in Roseau, MN with her loving family at her side at the age of 68 years, 5 months and 6 days. May her memory be blessed.
