Mabel N. Soltau

Funeral services for Mabel Soltau of Roseau, MN will be held on Monday, May 22nd at 11 AM at the Pinecreek Lutheran Church in rural Roseau.  Visitation will be one hour prior with interment at the Pinecreek Cemetery.  Mabel passed away May 14th at the LifeCare Roseau Manor at the age of 98.

Mabel Nielsine Lislegard was born to Tollef and Karen Lislegard April 15th, 1919 in Pinecreek, MN. She attended school in Pinecreek and Roseau.  Mabel married Stanley Soltau January 12, 1941 and they made their home in Pinecreek for 69 years and at LifeCare Manor for 3 years. Mabel and Stanley had five daughters.

Mabel was a very caring person and caregiver to many. She was active in the Pinecreek Church with Ladies Aide, Sunday School and quilting; also Ladies Golf, 4-H, and Garden Club. She was a homemaker and substitute Mail Carrier for Stanley. They shared their love of the outdoors, taking walks, gardening and golfing. These were her greatest pleasures besides her family.

Mabel is preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; infant daughter; granddaughter, Shelly Chezick; parents; brothers, Iver, Ingvald, and Holger. Mabel is survived by her children, Katherine (Ron) Sluka, Elizabeth (Lee) Markgraf, Pamela (Tom) Postudensek, Angela Johnson; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.  Blessed be her memory.  *A special “thank you” from the bottom of the family’s heart, to the LifeCare Manor Staff for the wonderful care of Mabel over the last seven years.
