LaMae A. Halvorson

Memorial services for LaMae "Lee" Halvorson of Roseau will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 2 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau.  Lee passed away on January 13, 2016 at the LifeCare Roseau Manor at the age of 86.

LaMae  “Lee”  Ardele (Gavelin) Halvorson was born on December 3, 1929 in Roseau, MN.  She graduated from Roseau High School, where she was a cheerleader. She loved to cheerlead at the hockey games, and she loved to ice skate, which she was very good at. Lee worked in Roseau at several places, including the Roso Theater, Nelson’s Café and the pharmacy.

Lee was married to Bruce Johnson, and they had four children; Leslie, Kimberly, Scott and Kristen. They were married 21 years and lived in Iowa before divorcing. Lee moved back to Roseau, where she met Darryl Halvorson ad fell in love all over again. They married on December 30, 1977 and had 38 great years of marriage and a wonderful life.

Lee loved flower gardening, and roses were her favorite. Her window boxes full of flowers were also special to her.

Lee is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Lillian Gavelin, and by her niece Pam Lund. She is survived by her husband, Darryl; children, Leslie (Bob) Teuscher, Kimberly (Jeff) Scott, Scott (Linda) Johnson, and Kristen (Gary) Estabrooks; step-children, Terry (Shonda) Halvorson, Brent Halvorson, and Kammy (Craig) Fettig; sister, Betty Lund; grandchildren, Jessica, Josh, Jed, Kayla, Ethan and Gavin; Justin, Devon, Austin, Aaron, Ethan, Bridget, Tracy and Heather; great-grandchildren, Kamry, Lexius, Quincy, Grayson, Brody and Chase; nephews, Steve Lund and Jerry Lund; and several cousins.
