On behalf of my father and family I write: It's with regret I read of John's passing,But with thanks for his wonderful life, full of friendship, hospitality and humor. Better known to his good friends and family as the Red Leader. He was a very loyal friend to my father, Warren Saetre. (Who is still with us at 93) They were in contact by cards, phone calls into this year. They were part of a great group of pals that hunted, fished together for decades. They shared outings, stories and treats that would be included in annual XMAS cards. I recall John flying in to be there for his friend and my uncle Art Espeland's funeral back in 1999. I have a mug and thermos my dad tuned over to me a while back with the Red Leader logo name on it and happy to know of it's namesake. He was part of the fabric, life of Warroad and that region of Minnesota. It reminded me of wonderful times there and Lake of the Woods. My sympathies to his wife Dinah and family. God Bless the memory of John Heneman. RIP Steve Saetre.

It is a very sad day for our community. We have lost one of our best. Many are feeling his loss today but none so much as Dinah and family. We would take away your hurt if we could. Thank you for sharing your husband and father with us. We were blessed to have known him. John Heneman lived to leave our world just a little better for having been in it. Truly a model for all of us. Indeed one of the Greatest Generation. He will be deeply missed.

We're sorry to hear of the passing John"Red Leader ". He will be missed by all. He touched many people probably never uttered an unkind word was full of wisdom. He and his father treated our family well. We will never forget that our youngest son PJ when he was about 6 in the gondola in the old gardens would call Mr Henemen the man with the most quarters not knowing he was a banker or what a banker even was. John would often give him quarters to spend in the canteen. We leave you with this thought,it was a pleasure to have known the man. He was definitely a pillar of our community. Sincerely Dee and Phil Stodgell

Thank you John for all you did for the Warroad area and the Warroad Lost River Sportsmen Club. You were a lifetime member and also a great supporter of the Warroad Warriors Trap Club. Because of you having faith in us, Ileen and I were able to relocate to Warroad in the supermarket industry. Rest in peace.

Dinah and family,
I am truly saddened, and my thoughts and prayers are with you all. He was a pivotal part of my life, and I could always count on a little teasing. As long as I can remember I knew were the jaw breakers were kept, and he never ran out. He touched many lives, including mine. God Bless you all during this time, and I will look to the left when I go home to Heaven as he will be sitting there with a smile.

I am so sorry to hear of John's passing. He was a kind and gentle man and lived his life to the fullest. I had the pleasure of meeting John with my brother Tom. We would take road trips up north & visit with him. He told us stories from the past & evidence of those adventures are all in his office, I would like to offer my condolences to his family & especially to his lovely wife Dina. I really hope I spelled that right. Yes, John lived his life to the fullest. Exactly how he wanted to!

John was a lifelong family friend, and he and Dinah nurtured that friendship for all of the years they had with mom and dad. Their friendship was built on loyalty, principal, strong character and a smattering of shenanigans. He will be missed.

Leader was one of the 'best of the best'....to Warroad, to our family, to mom and dad. He led quietly, by example and supported everything Warroad. When they coined, "The Greatest Generation", it was with people like Leader in mind. Thoughts and prayers to the Heneman family.
