A Memorial Service for Irene Stromstad of International Falls, MN formerly of Warroad, MN will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 2:00PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Warroad, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
Irene Stromstad passed away on Friday, August 14, 2015 at her home at the age of 85.
Irene E. Stromstad was born on July 16, 1930 in Swift, MN to Peter and Ingeborg Pearson. She attended school at Swift schools through the 8th grade and attended Emmanuel Lutheran Church as a child. Irene married Sam Stromstad in Roseau, MN on June 24, 1950. They moved to International Falls, MN in March of 1951 where Sam found a job at M&O paper company, Irene was a wonderful homemaker and “Jack of all Trades”. After Sam retired in 1977 the couple moved to Warroad, MN and Irene began working at Marvin Lumber and Cedar Co. for a total of 12 years before she retired in 1989. Sam passed away in May of that year. In 2011 Irene moved back to International Falls, MN to live with her daughter ReNae. Irene’s spare time was filled with family and friends; she also enjoyed crocheting and fishing.
Irene is survived by children, Gaylene (Nick) Fish, Susan (Peter) Dion, Lori Stromstad, Darla (Leslie) Guillemette, ReNae (Mike) Sumner; multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Larry Pearson and Evelyn Davidson.
She is preceded in death by her husband Saml; son, Kevin Stromstad; parents; siblings, Darlene Roseen, Bud Pearson, Iver Pearson, Alvin Pearson, Edwin Pearson, Dale Pearson, Carroll Pearson, Denis Pearson.
