Funeral Services for Helen Cook of Border, Minnesota will be held on Saturday, March 7 at the Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Baudette at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be on Friday, March 6, at Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Baudette from 5-7 p.m. and also one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday. Interment will be at the Riverside Cemetery at Border, MN.
Helen Lucinda Cook was born to Alexander and Rena (Printy) Bear of Plano, Iowa on January 24, 1918.
Helen married Elmer Cook on October 14, 1938 in Unionville, Missouri. They moved to the neighboring town of Melrose, Iowa where they operated a grain and beef farm. In 1953 Helen and Elmer moved to Minnesota and bought a farm near Border, Minnesota where they farmed and raised their family.
Helen loved her flowers, the garden, and the red chickens. When neighbors or family stopped by to visit they always left fed and blessed.
Helen Cook passed away on Saturday, February 21 at her home in Border. She was 97 years old.
She is survived by her children, Gloriea (Fred) Eggerichs of Osteen, FL, Sharon White of Whitewright, TX, Irene Nemesi of Waxhaw, NC, Elmer Jr. (Jill) of Williams, MN, Doris (Clayton) Nolby of Blaine, MN, Dale (Louise) of Baudette, MN, Forrest (Ida Nell) of Border, MN; 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 5 great great-grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, two sisters, her parents, two son-in-laws, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
