Glen A. Hammer

Funeral services for Glen Hammer of Badger will be held on Friday, April 22nd at 2 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Military Honors by the Roseau Memorial Honor Guard.

Glen A. Hammer of Badger, MN passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at his home at the age of 86.

Glen, the son of Clarence and Caroline (Sorteberg) Hammer was born on April 13, 1930 in Ross Township of Roseau County.  He grew up on a farm southeast of Badger, and attended school one mile south of Fox, MN; and one year in Badger, MN.

Glen was drafted into the U.S. Army in December of 1951, stationed in Fort Sheridan, IL and in Germany during the Korean War.  After his honorable discharge, he and Florence (Ness) were married on November 25, 1953.  Glen was active in many civic organizations, including Director and Past President of the REA Board, Minnkota Board, PCA Board, and the Middle River Shipping Association Board.  He worked as a life-long farmer until his retirement.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his real passion was farming the land he loved so much.  They also enjoyed spending many winters in Arizona.

Glen is survived by his wife, Florence of Badger, MN; four children, Donna Kloosterboer of Ft. Wayne, ID, Rodney (Julie) Hammer of Albuquerque, NM, Patty Hammer of Badger and Gary (Nancy) Hammer of Badger; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Clifford Hammer, Charlotte Torgerson, Leslie Hammer, Audrey Hammer and Percy Hammer.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 22nd at 2 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau.  Visitation will be one hour prior at the chapel.  Interment will be at the Opdahl Cemetery in Badger; with military honors by the Roseau Memorial Honor Guard.
