A Memorial Service for Gladys E. Haaksvold of Baudette, MN will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Helgeson Funeral Home in Baudette, MN at 1:00PM. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Elm Park Cemetery in Baudette.
Gladys passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at the LakeWood Care Center in Baudette, MN at the age of 89.
Gladys Haaksvold was born in Duluth, MN to George and Avy (Norman) Haaksvold on November 15, 1925. She attended school in and graduated from Duluth. Her father worked construction so when he moved to Seattle, WA she, and her mother went alone. She worked in a Government Building there. Her brother George moved to Sacramento and worked construction there. Gladys joined he and his wife, Ewana in CA.
When her brother retired from construction, he moved to Carp, MN to the family homestead. Shortly after George moved to Carp, Gladys followed. Her brother died on 3/20/2006 and she moved into Summerfield Apartments shortly after. She was a member of First Congregational Church in Baudette and the Brink Senior Center where she volunteered countless hours. She loved to help people and always had time to help if she was asked. Gladys also had a wonderful sense of humor.
Gladys is preceded in death by her parents; brother, George.
Survivors include cousins, Cecil Johnson of Hayes Lake, MN, Christopher (Debra) Johnson, Heather Johnson, Alex Johnson and Tanya Olsen all of Roseau, MN.
Close friends from Sacramento where she worked with the government are: Nancy Morieany and Stephanie Kimball. Friends from Baudette, Louise Menk, Bill and Bette Mouw.
