March 8, 1921 ~ December 15, 2016 (age 95) 95 Years Old

A Memorial Service for George Rasmusson will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 2:00PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Roseau, MN. George Rasmusson passed way at the LifeCare Roseau Manor on December 15, 2016 at the age of 95.

George Rasmusson was born to Alfred and Tilde Rasmusson on March 8, 1921, in Politz Township one mile from the Canadian border. As a young boy he loved to trap small game like weasels and skunks. He also loved to hunt with his friend Gilmore Flaten shooting partridges with their slingshots. George also loved older people to tell about their experiences in life. Although his folks went to church about once a year, they had a lot of Bible discussion at home, especially when Henry, Ruth, and Harvey came over to visit. Ruth loved to talk about the Bible. In 1938 or 1939 an intensive bible study was started in their home with the help of Watchtower Publications.

On June 19, 1942, George dedicated his life to Jehovah God by water Baptism. George became a conscientious objector to war so he was sentenced to three years in prison. After his release he went into carpenter work with his brother, Fred. From 1953 to 1960 George did carpenter work in Bismark, Minneapolis, and Duluth. He also did pulp cutting and some logging. In 1960 he came home to be closer to his parents. On January 6, 1968, George married Anna M. VanCleave of Missouri Valley, Iowa. She had three children, Barbara, Susan, and Mike. Together they operated an antique shop for 20 years, which Anna took care of. George kept up his carpentry work until he retired in about 1990.

George is preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Helen, Gladys, Lovina, Annie; three brothers, Theodore, Fred, and Edwin; and one step-daughter, Barbara.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Rasmusson; step-children, Mike VanCleave of Badger, MN, and Susan VanCleave of Omaha, NE; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
