Floyd passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at the age of 86.

Floyd B. Olson was born on November 9, 1931 to Nils and Greta (Nelson) Olson in Roseau, MN.  He attended School District 36 West in Falun Township for four years until the family moved to Roseau.  There he attended school and graduated from Roseau High School in 1949.  Following High School, he worked for Farmer's Co-op Creamery and served two years in the United States Army. (1952-1954)

Floyd married Marjorie Fugleberg in 1954.  They lived in Grand Forks, ND, and later returned to Roseau.  Floyd worked as parts manager at Nelson Chevrolet and at Wilson Brothers Auto Parts.  He began working at the Roseau Post Office as a clerk in 1963.  He was appointed Postmaster in 1966 and served in that position until he retired on August 1, 1991.

Floyd was a devoted member of the Rose Free Lutheran Church, where he held many different offices on the church board.  He was charter member of the Rose Church Men's Club.  His church life was of utmost importance to him.  Floyd was also active in other areas of the community.  He served as Vice President of the Roseau County Historical Board for several years, was on the Roseau County Fair Board for 25 years, and was a member of the Postmaster's Association.

Floyd was a lover of nature and the great outdoors.  He spent much time fishing and hunting over the years.  He enjoyed walking in the woods, staying at the hunting camp, going for drives, and simply watching the wonders of wildlife.

Floyd looked forward to his Thursday morning coffee crew and socializing with friends and family.  He was known for his sense of humor and quick wit.  He was very proud of his Swedish Heritage and loved teasing and joking with his Norwegian friends.

Floyd showed great pride in his six grandchildren and bragged about their accomplishments.  He relished spending time with them and cheered them on in their sports and activities.  He was blessed with three beautiful great-granddaughters whom he adored.

Floyd's life exemplified kindness, compassion, and generosity.  He lived each day placing others' needs above his own.  He had a special way of making others feel important.

Floyd is survived by his devoted wife, Marjorie, of 63 years; children, Jeff (Sara) of Roseau, Sarajane (Craig) Weiss of Moorhead, and Lisa (Trent) Bielejeski of Barnesville; grandchildren, Erik (Kendra), Michael, and Grant Weiss, Amy and Gracie Olson, and Noah Bielejeski; great-granddaughters, Lennon, Ellis, and Laney Weiss; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Nils and Greta; siblings, Christine (Harry) Friberg, Hildur (Oscar) Westhed, Cedric, Evelyn (Arthur) Wensloff, Lillian (Rudy) Johnson, Eunice Woidtke, and Sigfrid Olson; brothers-in-law, Buddy Magnusson and Jimmy Arneson.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Four Seasons Senior Center or the Roseau County Historical Society.
