Duane "Butch" A. Nelson

Memorial services for Butch Nelson of Warroad, MN will be held at 10AM  Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church in Warroad.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Duane “Butch” A. Nelson, age 51 of Warroad, MN passed away on January 11, 2016.  Butch was born on May 6, 1964 in Minot, ND to Margaret (Durst) and Duane Nelson.  He grew up in Surrey, ND and graduated from Surrey High School in 1982 where he played baseball.  He later attended Bismarck Junior College for auto body repair.  He worked as an Auto Body Technician in Minot.  He moved to Warroad, MN in 1988 to work at Marvin Windows and Doors.  He was currently employed as a machinist and enjoyed his many co-workers.  He and Pamela Olson were married on June 23, 1995.

Butch loved hunting and fishing!  He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors and being close to Lake of the Woods.  He enjoyed drag racing in Minot, gardening, working in his greenhouse and watching many sporting events, and the Fighting Sioux.  He will be remembered as someone who was loving, giving, caring and kind.  He was a past member of the Ducks Unlimited.

He is survived by his wife, Pam Nelson of Warroad; step-son, Jeremy (Danielle) Olson of Bemidji, MN; grandchildren, Braden, Cierra and Kennedy; parents, Duane and Margaret Nelson of Garrison, ND; siblings, Dusty Nelson, Dana (Ross) Hobart, Darla (Matt) Hanson and Doug (Tanya) Nelson.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Nelson; and grandparents, Carl & Florance Nelson and Lansing & Anna Durst.
