Dolores M. Watkins

A Funeral Service for Dolores Maxine Norman Watkins of Selingsgrove, PA formerly of Roseau, MN will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 2:00PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Spruce Cemetery in Roseau, MN.

Dolores passed away on Friday, July 15, 2016 at the age of 95.

Dolores Maxine Watkins was born April 7, 1921 to Otis and Mable Norman in Roseau, MN. She was the oldest of seven children and attended school in Roseau, MN. Dolores graduated from Roseau High School in June of 1939.

After school she was offered a job by Walter Bell doing secretarial work at a car dealership. She then started working for Bert Hanson the county attorney in Roseau, MN. After moving to Minneapolis, MN Dolores worked as a secretary for the Minnesota News Company and when WWII started she moved to Washington D.C. and worked in the War Department of the Quartermaster General. It was in D.C. where she met and married Charles R. Watkins on September 21, 1944, the couple would grow their family with four children. Dolores became a housewife and a care taker for their children.

Dolores enjoyed singing, playing the piano, gardening, art and home decor. She loved the Lord and was a very religious person.

She is survived by her sons, Ernest (Pam) Watkins, Robby Watkins; grandchildren, David Watkins, Robin Watkins; siblings, Laverne Norman, Loretta Goos; sister –in-laws, LaMae Norman, Marjorie Norman as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Dolores is preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Ann Watkins; son, Norman L. Watkins; her parents, Otis and Mable; siblings, Delton, Maverette, Duane and Roger.
