Delores Palm passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the LakeWood Care Center at the age of 87.

Delores Olive Allen was born September 5, 1928 to Lloyd and Mila Olive Allen. Delores grew up in St. Cloud, MN, where she attended Tech High School, graduating in 1946. She earned a teaching degree at the teacher’s college in St. Cloud and was an elementary school teacher in White Bear Lake and New London, MN.

She married Frank Ellis Johnson July 23, 1951, and they had a son, Keith.  Frank died of polio July 3, 1954. Delores married George Richard Palm September 3, 1955, and they had two sons, Rick and Brian. George and Delores and their sons built their home on the banks of the Wabanica Creek in 1965, where George had his original tool and die machine shop.  Delores ran punch press and helped George with bookkeeping and secretarial tasks.

Delores lived a very full and busy life.  Music was her gift, and she had a song for every occasion. Her strong faith in God led her to be active in the churches she attended, especially with music, playing piano and organ and singing in choirs and small ensembles. She loved the outdoors and also enjoyed cooking, gardening, boating, canoeing, fishing, golfing, bowling, traveling, and photography. Delores was an avid swimmer into her 80s. She enjoyed fashion and clothing and was quite dapper in her hats.  Over the years, the family had many animals, including horses, dogs, cats, a memorable bird, and her most recent beloved dog, Sweetie. Delores especially treasured her friendships with the “Lunch Bunch” gals, who met faithfully every Tuesday for many years.

Her life was built around her faith and her family. She cherished her parents, siblings, nieces and nephews, and her children and grandchildren were the joy in her life. Delores was known as “Dolly” or “Dee” to family and friends. For many years, the 4th of July was celebrated at Auntie Dee’s in Baudette, with family spread throughout the house and outbuildings, tenting and camping, and she loved every minute of the chaos.

Delores fell November 17, 2010 and sustained a traumatic brain injury.  She and George moved to NorthWoods Commons, and Delores moved to LakeWood Care Center in July of 2014.

Delores is survived by her husband, George; sons, Rick (Kristen) Palm, Brian (Joyce) Palm; daughter-in-law Shar Ray (Larry) Feickert; grandchildren, Krista Mortensen, Sarah Palm, Karl Palm, Bryce Palm; siblings, Lois, Sherri (Bill) Kimball; many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by Frank Johnson; siblings, Edith (Hanson), Robert Allen; son, Keith Palm.

Memorials are preferred to the Music Fund of First Lutheran Church, Baudette, MN.
