Funeral services for Audrey O. Stoe of Badger, MN will be on Friday, February 5th at 11 AM at Concordia Lutheran Church in rural Ross, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Concordia Cemetery.
Audrey Orlaine Stoe of Badger, MN passed away on February 1, 2016 at the Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in Erskine, MN at the age of 86.
Audrey was born on February 3, 1929 in Argyle, MN to Alfred and Minnie (Olsen) Thompson . She grew up on a farm and attended country school through the 8th grade. She was baptized and confirmed in the Nannestad Lutheran Church which was located just across the road from their house. She worked babysitting and as a waitress in Roseau and at the NU Café in Badger.
Audrey (Thompson) and Henry Stoe met at a dance and what sparked his interest was her long blond hair. They were united in marriage on June 22, 1949. They farmed in Pohlitz Township of Roseau County and had five children. They were members of Concordia Lutheran Church in Ross, MN for many years. Audrey was active in the Ladies Aid, quilting and the Sunshine Club. She would often help in the farming, milking and chores often multitasking with greater speed than the men. She loved cooking, baking (Her made from scratch pancakes were the best!), sewing, canning, quilting and gardening. In 2000, when Audrey developed Alzheimer’s Disease, Henry lovingly cared for her in their home for many years. For the past seven years she has resided at Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in Erskine, MN. Audrey will be remembered for her soft, kind and gentle spirit. She was a loving and dedicated wife and mother.
She is survived by her children, Warren (Anne) Stoe of Roseau, Judith (Randall) Adamson of Thief River Falls, MN, Roland (Carmie) Stoe of Badger, MN, Danny (Marci) Stoe of Roseau, MN and Janelle (Troy) Friedrich of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren, Mary Stoe, Carolyn (Luke) Oliver, Aaron (Julie) Stoe, Landon (Kalie) Adamson, Melissa (Adam) Haviland, Traci (Richard) Anderson, Terry (fiancé, Lori) Stoe, Alicia Stoe, Adam Stoe, Justin Stoe, Samuel Friedrich, and Jake Friedrich; great-grandchildren, Veda and Ever Haviland, Elsie Anderson and Ruthie Teorey; sister, Gloria Lee. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry in 2009; and brother, Dale Thompson.
