Arthur H. Carlson

Funeral services for Art Carlson of Roseau will be held on Friday, December 15th at 11 AM at Riverside Lutheran Church in Wannaska.  Visitation will be on Thursday from 5-7 PM with a 7:00 prayer service at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau.  Interment will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery.  Military rites by the Roseau Memorial Honor Guard.

Arthur Harlyn Carlson of Roseau, MN, passed away on December 9, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN as the result of an automobile accident at the age of 87.

Art was born on February 2, 1930, in Grimstad Township of Roseau County, Minnesota to Selma (Sernes) and Henry Carlson.  He attended school in Grimstad Township and later Agricultural School.  He served in the U.S. Army from December of 1953 to November of 1955.  He and Elaine I. Johnson were married on August 24, 1957.  He farmed for over 45 years in Grimstad Township, a job that he loved.  He also worked at Fredrickson Implement and Polaris Industries and hauled flax straw.

Art enjoyed carpentry, woodworking and doing projects around the farm.  He was a kind and quiet man, with a gentle spirit.  Blessed be his memory.

He is survived by his children, Henry (Fatima) Carlson of Wannaska, MN, Colleen Carlson of Duluth, MN and Rachel Carlson of Roseau; grandson, Alexander Carlson of Duluth; sister, Sadie Gohdes of Durbin, ND; and sisters-in-law, Bonnie Carlson of Colorado and Gladys Carlson of Roseau.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elaine Carlson in 2002; brothers, Romaine Carlson, Russell Carlson and Jesse Gordon Carlson.
