Arne R. Beito

December 11, 1929 ~ August 21, 2016 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Funeral services for Arne Beito of Wannaska, MN will be held on Friday, August 26th at 11 AM at Riverside Lutheran Church in Wannaska.  Visitation will be on Thursday evening from 5-7 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau.  Interment will be at the Mickinock-Riverside Cemetery in Wannaska.

Arne Rolland Beito was born on December 11, 1929, in Greenbush, MN, to parents Gilbert and Sophie (Underdahl) Beito. He was raised in Huss Township of Roseau County near Strathcona, MN and attended the country school in the area. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

Arne entered the U.S. Army in February of 1952 and served in the Korea War until his discharge in August of 1953.  He earned the United Nations Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, and three Bronze Service Stars.

He married Thora Erickson on June 15, 1955 at Riverside Lutheran Church in Wannaska, MN. They were married 61 years and had six children. Arne worked on the railroad for many years, and he also worked at the Grand Forks Air Force Base in Grand Forks, ND, for 12 years.

Arne and Thora moved back to Wannaska in 1969, where he worked as a carpenter and farmer in the summer, and he also logged in the winter.  Arne enjoyed hunting, trapping and spending time in the outdoors.

Arne passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2016, at Roseau LifeCare Manor at the age of 86 years, 8 months and 10 days. He is survived by his wife, Thora; children, Nancy (Bill) Comstock, Mark (Vernell) Beito, Greg Beito, Keith (Darci Johnson) Beito, Ron Beito, and Gail (Sheldon) Peterson; grandchildren, Kaylee (Ryan) St. Germain, Emily (Brady) Johnson, Laura, Dawn, Ann, Jasmin, Ericka, Molly (Terry) Carlblom, Ryan, Cole and Kallie; great-grandchildren, Chase, Clarice and Thora; and sister-in-laws Joyce, Evelyn, Doris and Annie; and brother and sister-in-law, Adolph and Evelyn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lennie, Gilman, Marvin, Walter, Harry, Palmer, Elwood and Gerald; sisters, Gladys, Lillie, Alice and MoReen; infant sister Sadie, and infant brother Walter.
