A Funeral Service for Anetia M. Anderson Eiken of Roseau, MN will be held on Friday, July 22, 2016 at 11:00AM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN. Public viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Palmville Cemetery at a later date.

Anetia passed away July 13, 2016 at Life Care Roseau Manor at the age of 99.

Anetia Mathilda Eiken was born in Roseau, MN on October 15, 1916 to Arthur and Bertha (Smith) Bruss. She went to school in Roseau through 11th grade, and left her senior year to attend the University of Crookston, graduating in 1936.

Anetia married Melvin Anderson on November 12, 1939, and they had four children: LeRoy, Kenneth, Arthur, and Karla. Melvin passed away in 1965. On December 26, 1969, Anetia married Levern Eiken, and he passed away in 1985. Anetia worked at J.C. Penney’s in Roseau for 20 years, she was a clerk at the grocery store and Tweety Variety Store, she worked at REM-Roseau, she was a teacher for the handicapped at the Roseau School, and she was the meal site manager for the Four Seasons Center.

She loved playing bingo, and she also enjoyed needle point. She enjoyed the outdoors as a younger child, and she liked gardening and canning.  Anetia loved going on trips with her son Kenney, and she enjoyed old-time dancing with him. She also made several trips with the Sons of Norway.

Anetia was the president of MARC and was a big influence on starting the program. She belonged to the Four Seasons Center, First Lutheran Church, the Eagles, and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She also was a member of 4H, and in 1934 she was awarded the Minnesota Grand Champion for her canning.

Anetia passed away on July 13, 2016 at the Roseau Manor Nursing Home at the age of 99.

She is survived by her children, LeRoy (Lani) Anderson of San Diego, CA, Arthur Anderson of Thief River Falls, MN, and Karla Anderson of Roseau, MN; 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandhcildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Anetia was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Melvin and Levern; sisters, Paula Bauck and Esther Gustafson; brother Arthur Bruss; a step-granddaughter, and her son Kenneth.
