Judith "Judy" Swentik
(Died October 30, 2013)
Judy Swentik was born on March 2, 1944 in Baudette Minnesota to Malcolm and Helen Mollberg. Judy’s courageous battle with cancer ended on October 30, 2013. She was an inspiration to all who witnessed her strength and was with family when she went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ. She attended school in Baudette and upon her high school graduation went on to attend nursing school at the Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis. She initially received her LPN degree and later went back to school and earned her RN degree. She spent 45 of her entire 46 year nursing career in Baudette. Judy was also very actively involved as an EMT with the Lake of the Woods Ambulance Service for 38 years, serving in a leadership role for several years. She was a compassionate caregiver who received tremendous joy caring for others. This passion is known to the many patients she touched. If you had a medical need you wanted Judy.
When Judy wasn’t caring for others, she was quilting, gardening and in her flower beds. She loved spending time with her many quilting friends and looked forward to quilt retreats at the bible camp. Her family will cherish the many beautiful quilts she made for them. She also enjoyed her musical talents by playing her clarinet and singing in the church choir. Her church involvement and volunteering was a large part of her life. She loved to serve.
Judy’s greatest love was her family. She loved to travel with her husband, George, and especially enjoyed the time that they spent in Alaska. Time spent with her family was always happy. She loved to hear stories from her children and grandchildren and enjoyed watching them grow up. She also loved attending the many events in which they were involved, from hockey, football, basketball and soccer games to band and choir concerts, musicals and piano recitals.
Judy is survived by her husband, George; her children Deb (Bill) Fasen and grandchildren Josh and Rachel Rostad; Darlene (Bruce) Gilbeck and grandchildren Tyler and Karlie; Sonya (Jon) Drechsel and grandchildren Zack and Kristin; Brad (Cheryl) Smith and grandchildren Jacob and Caleb; She also had 4 step children and 10 step grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; John and son Ethan; Margaret and daughters Katelyn and Keeley; Debbie and daughters Rachel, Caressa, Courtney, and sons Michael and Nathan, and great granddaughter Carina; George Jr. and son Parker and daughter Kennedy; her brother Gerald (Bev) Mollberg; niece Tracy Struckman, nephew Scott Mollberg and families; and Aunts Melba Penning; Peggy Hasbargen; and Dorothy Hasbargen.
