Curtis R. Jesme, the son of Alma (Dole) and George Jesme was born on November 29, 1932 in Skime, MN. He also attended school in Skime.
On June 6, 1959 Curtis married Mary Ann Van De Hey. They have five children, Marlene, Jane, Judy, Jeffrey and Georgianna.
Curtis and MaryAnn moved into their home in Skime in 1966. This farm has been in the Jesme name for over 100 years. Curtis worked on the Wheeler Bridge near Norris Camp, cut pulp and drove drag line for Emmett McDonough prior to working at Polaris, where he worked for over thirty years in maintenance. Following his retirement from Polaris Curtis went back to work for Emmett McDonough screening gravel and running equipment. He worked until 2006 when his health would no longer allow him to work.
Curtis loved his family so very much. His kids, grandkids, great-grandkids were most important to him and he loved them dearly. He spent as much time as possible with them.
Curtis passed away on October 27, 2009 at the LifeCare Manor in Roseau. He was 76 years old.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, MaryAnn of Skime, children, Marlene (Tim) Hanson of Badger, Jane (Duane) Bessler of Williams, Judy (Randy) Aker of Warroad, Jeffrey Jesme of St. Paul, MN, and Georgianna (John) Mitchell of Remsen, NY; grandsons, Joe Bessler, Dan Hanson, Alex Mitchell, Anthony Mitchell, Curtis Mitchell, Alex Jesme; granddaughters, Christine Hanson, Cassie Bessler, Amanda Martin, Charlotte Aker, Serena Jesme, Rebecca Jesme, Rachel Jesme, and Kady Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Karson, Jackson, Gaige, Savannah, and Dominic; sister, Joyce Strickland of Clayton, NC, and brothers Oliver (Dorothy) and Donald Jesme of Warroad.
He is preceded in death by his parents George and Alma, and three infant siblings.
Funeral Services for Curtis Jesme will be held on Saturday, October 31, at the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Skime at 1:30 p.m. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Friday with a devotional service at 7:30 at Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Roseau, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
