Herman F. Doebler

Funeral Services for Herman F. Doebler of Warroad and formerly of Roosevelt will be held on Monday, April 23, 2011 at the Mount Carmel Lutheran Church in Roosevelt at 10 a.m. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Herman Fred Doebler was born on September 9, 1919 in North Dakota to Amanda (Born) and Otto Doebler. He attended school in Crystal, North Dakota and helped on the family farm until he was about seventeen years old.

Herman then moved to Roosevelt, MN where he farmed dairy for some time. He did not like farming much! He was a very handy guy and decided to start his own business as a machinist in his shop at home. He was good at welding, machining, repairing, straightening, and just about anything a blacksmith can do. He absolutely loved working in his shop.

Herman owned an airplane and loved to fly. He owned a motorcycle and once rode to North Dakota with his nephew Steven to visit relatives. But, his favorite hobby was being a blacksmith and serving people in the area.

Herman Doebler passed away on Wednesday, April 18 at the Warroad Senior Living Center. He was 92 years old.

Herman is survived by his sister, Lillian Novak of Litchfield, MN; nieces and nephews: Fay (Kenneth) Braseth, June Birr, Janice (Butch) Madden, and Steven (Rena) Doebler. He is preceded in death by his parents, Amanda and Otto, sister, Evelyn Ruby, and William Doebler.
